Gold-filled jewelry has a layer of gold up to 100 times thicker than gold-plated jewelry. Since they contain 5% solid gold fused to the surface of the base material, their layer of gold will not fade over time as occurs on gold-plated jewelry. This makes them extremely durable in addition to being indistinguishable from solid gold to the naked eye.
